Namasteeee on my mat

Namasteeee on my mat

Happy International Day of Yoga! If you can’t tell already, I love yoga—like more than I love kombucha, dark chocolate, and all the things. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to both practice and guide others.

During my first semester at U.C. Berkeley, I was grappling with the idea of home (is it here, is it O.C., what is home?!) and began to realize that beyond a geographical location, home is a feeling. Home is the people you surround yourself with, the places that bring you peace, and the experiences that give you joy. And before I knew it, my mat became home. It became my center to meditate, to breathe, to flow, to feel all the things (the good and the bad), and ground myself down in gratitude.

By giving myself this sacred time to be and breathe, I am able to fully give to others and be completely present in my surroundings. By moving my body and finding flow on my mat, I find a rhythmic flow off my mat. It’s through this practice that I have been able to pay more attention to my breath and always find the time to do what sets my soul on fire.

Yoga directly translates to “union” in Sanskrit, and can be thought of as a union between mind, body, and spirit. Even more broadly, it can be thought of as the connection that we share with others. There is energy and limitless possibility running through me, you, and all living things. We just have to find a way to connect with that positive energy. For me, it’s yoga. For you, it could be something totally different. But no matter what it is, I encourage you to find it and commit to doing it. Make it a habit and allow yourself to cultivate the energy you want, so that you can attract that same energy back into your life (aka karma aka Newton’s Third Law).

From my heart to yours,
Namaste

~My soul honors your soul. I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honor the light, love, truth, beauty, and peace within you, because it is also within me. In sharing these things, we are united, we are the same, we are one.~

Love always (smaller font).png
