That's the Way the Superfood Crumbles
This recipe is from my amazing mom—aka the OG kombucha and kale queen—and it’s a sweet crumble that’s satisfying enough for all you fellow chocolate lovers out there. I have friends who don't like chocolate (crazy, I know) who are still obsessed with this crumble, so it’s truly for everyone.
This superfood crumble is essentially a deconstructed protein ball that you can sprinkle on top of yogurt, fruit, nut butter toasts, oatmeal, etc. Or you can literally just eat it out of the jar—I know from experience that it’s just as incredible on its own haha.
I got my mom’s secret recipe for when I (sadly) have to go back to adulting after summer break!
Total Time: 25 minutes
Yield: 2 mason jars
Ingredients
1/2 cup (raw) walnuts
3/4 cup (raw) pecans
1/2 cup (raw) cashews
1/2 cup (raw) peanuts
6-7 dates
1/4 cup cup of uncooked quinoa
1 scoop of protein powder (we used Orgain’s vanilla protein powder)
1/2 cup (raw) rolled oats
1/8 to 1/4 cup shelled hemp seeds
1/8 to 1/4 cup cacao nibs
3 tbsp. chia seeds
3 tbsp. flax seeds
Dash of cinnamon
Sea salt to taste
Optional sweeteners: 2 tbsp. honey and 1 tsp. maple syrup
Optional: 1 tbsp. MCT Oil
Optional: semisweet or dark chocolate chips
Instructions
Place all ingredients in a food processor or high-speed blender until a sticky, well-combined mixture forms. (Optional: roll the crumble into energy balls)
Pack it up in your favorite mason jars, and refrigerate.
Enjoy!
