Let's DO It!
Guess who got her white coat?! Wooooo! I had my white coat ceremony on Friday and I’ve been feeling so grateful for my support system. I was initially sad that my ceremony was virtual since I’ve always envisioned it to be in person, but it ended up being even better than I could have ever expected. My mom surprised me with a beautiful balloon arrangement and brunch by our favorite private chef, my dad and grandpa (who are both physicians) coated me, and my incredible family and friends cheered me on in person and on Zoom. There’s something special about being surrounded by individuals who have supported you for countless years.
After seeing my loved ones shed a tear or two, I did as well (seeing other people cry makes me cry haha). These happy tears made me realize that this white coat represents more than a pivotal point on my path to medicine; it also represents the amazing people who have helped me get to this point. There’s no way I would have been able to embark on this journey and maintain a balanced lifestyle without having lots of help from my family and friends. In particular, I’m so appreciative to my parents for inspiring me, reminding me of my strengths, and supporting me everyday.
It’s such an honor to wear this white coat and to celebrate this stepping stone with all of you who have lifted me up to get here. Thank you for your love and support, and I can’t wait to see where this next adventure takes me. Happy first day of medical school!
